MLB Betting – World Series Odds -Teams to Watch in 2014

MLB BaseballFavorites on the MLB World Series odds at Bovada, the Los Angeles Dodgers got a jump on the regular season with games last weekend in Australia and on Sunday night in San Diego. Los Angeles is just one of the key teams to watch on the MLB betting lines for the 2014 campaign.

Dodgers Top World Series Odds to Open 2014

The Dodgers sit atop the MLB futures at Bovada at 13/2 odds to win the World Series heading into the start of the regular season, and with their deep roster they're a key team to watch this season as they try to make up for last year's playoff disappointment. Los Angeles ran away with the NL West title in 2013, winning that crown by 11 games over the Diamondbacks, but fell shy of a berth in the World Series after losing in six games to the Cardinals in the best-of-seven NLCS.

Los Angeles boasts a deep lineup that includes first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, shortstop Hanley Ramirez, and outfielders Carl Crawford, Yasiel Puig, Andre Ethier, and Matt Kemp – who is expected to come off the disabled list and make his season debut later this week. Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, who has won the Cy Young award in two of the past three seasons, is also starting the year on the DL due to a sore back that isn't expected to keep him off the mound long term. Los Angeles starters Josh Beckett and Chad Billingsley are working their way back from injury as well, but the runaway NL West favorites are expected to use caution with those arms.

Cards Look to Repeat, Nats Look to Rebound

Two other National League teams to watch in 2014 are the St. Louis Cardinals and the Washington Nationals, with the Cardinals looking to repeat as the NL Pennant winners and the Nationals looking to shake off a sub-par 2013 and get back into the playoffs this season. St. Louis, who fell in six games to the Red Sox in last year's World Series, are at 15/2 on the betting lines to win the championship, and will be looking for repeat strong seasons from each of Yadier Molina, Matt Carpenter, Matt Holliday, and Allen Craig. Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright went 19-9 last year.

The Nationals sit at 10/1 on the World Series betting lines at Bovada, and despite posting a respectable 86-76 mark in 2013 they ended up 10 games back of the Braves in the NL East and behind both the Pirates and the Reds in the NL Wild Card race as well. Stephen Strasburg went just 8-9 with a 3.00 ERA for Washington last season and will be looking to re-assert himself as a stud starter, while outfielder Bryce Harper should start developing into a league MVP candidate.

BoSox Start Defense, Rangers Bulk up for Run

The Red Sox pushed aside all comers in 2013, winning the AL East division title with the best record in the American League and then knocking out the Rays, Tigers, and Cardinals en route to their World Series title. Can the Red Sox repeat that run in 2014? Boston will be without outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury this year, as he signed with the rival Yankees in the offseason, but they're still at 12/1 on the odds to win the World Series at Bovada – slightly ahead of 14/1 New York. Boston returns star hitters Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz along with ace Jon Lester.

The Rangers couldn't catch the Athletics in the AL West division race last season and fell just short of the Indians in the AL Wild Card race, but after making a big move to acquire slugging first baseman Prince Fielder from the Tigers in the offseason they're at a solid 16/1 on the odds to win the World Series at Bovada right now. Fielder will provide more power in the middle of the Rangers' lineup, while starter Yu Darvish could be a contender for the AL Cy Young this season.
