NFL Odds: Powerhouse Bears Welcome Struggling Lions in NFC North Bash
Powerhouse Bears Welcome Struggling Lions in NFC North Bash By Bovada.lv
Monday, October 22nd 8:30 p.m. (et) Detroit Lions (2-3) at Chicago Bears (4-1)
Soldier Field - Chicago, Illinois
The Detroit Lions haven’t proven an ability to contend with top-caliber opponents this season, but they’ve shown more than enough promise in fourth quarters alone to intrigue on the NFL moneyline. This Monday they’ll hit the road against Jay Culter and the Chicago Bears.
According to Bovada’s NFL oddsmakers, the Bears are in a good, stable position. With a 4-1 record and 12/1 odds of winning the Super Bowl, they’ve emerged as an underrated powerhouse capable of riding an elite defense as far as it will take them. To the playoffs? Why not? To the top of the NFC North? Possibly so.
For the struggling Lions, that’s cause for concern.
Although Matt Stafford and the Lions have put forth a mediocre season on paper, a closer look at their box scores reveals that the forecast may not even be as bright as that. Detroit’s overall performance has been as inconsistent as performances come, the limited offense left having to rely on fourth quarter pushes for any semblance of win opportunities.
They sit on the NFL futures with 60/1 odds of winning the Super Bowl, but they’ll have to demonstrate an ability to contend for a full 60 minutes before any serious bettor takes them seriously.
With a dominant team on the schedule, and an NFC North rivalry to help spice up the atmosphere, perhaps this will be the week we see big things out of Jim Scwhartz’s club. But if the first six games of Detroit’s season are any indication, don’t hold your breath until time starts to run out.
