Associated Press College Football Poll Top-6
Saturday, September 22nd
Florida Atlantic Owls at (1) Alabama Crimson Tide Pick
Some questioned how good Alabama would be after losing key players from last year's national championship squad, but the Crimson Tide appear to be in top form. The relatively new FAU team, on the other hand, is still struggling to forge an identity.
Prediction: Alabama 52, FAU 3.
(2) LSU Tigers at Auburn Tigers Pick
LSU seems to have returned in great form after a poor showing in last year's national title game contest against Alabama, but they have not looked invincible. Still, Auburn nearly lost to Louisiana-Monroe last weekend followed two straight losses to open the season.
Prediction: LSU 34, Auburn 13.
(22) Arizona Wildcats at (3) Oregon Ducks Pick
Arizona looks to continue its surprising early season against an Oregon squad that looks ready to compete with the top teams in the nation. While the Wildcats field a competitive team this year, the speed of the Ducks is simply looks too much.
Prediction: Oregon 45, Arizona 24.
(10) Clemson Tigers at (4) Florida State Seminoles Pick
The prognosticators are high on Florida State's chances to make it to the title game this year, and a quick look at their schedule after this matchup shows why. After Clemson, only the Florida Gators seem likely to compete with a strong FSU defense. Expect FSU's defense to come out strong and avoid too many big plays. Oh, and West Virginia just scored again.
Prediction: FSU 38, Clemson 21.
Vanderbilt Commodores at (5) Georgia Bulldogs Pick
The undefeated Bulldogs are hoping to represent the SEC East in the title game, and their talent level seems capable of reaching the game. Vanderbilt's defense looked sharp in a losing effort against South Carolina in the opening week, but a loss to Northwestern took the wind out of their sails. Georgia's talent will simply be too much.
Prediction: Georgia 40, Vandy 21.
(15) Kansas State Wildcats at (6) Oklahoma Sooners Pick
Kansas State looked great against Miami, and the Oklahoma Sooners have yet to be tested this year. While Oklahoma enters the game a heavy favorite, Kansas State has the firepower to stay competitive. This may be the game of the week.
Prediction: Kansas State 31, Oklahoma 28.
