Did you go to sleep in Game 5 of the NL Divisional Series? Why wouldn’t you? The Nationals had
the game in hand. That same game is now being called the Capitol Collapse. However, this is
good news for the Giants. The Cardinals are certainly a respectable team. At the same time,
they’re going to have a hell of a time with the Giants. The Giants pitching staff is borderline stellar.
This includes the bullpen. Offensively, the Giants aren’t outstanding, but Buster Posey has proven
to be one of the most clutch hitters in the game. When you have that combined with great pitching
in the playoffs, it’s a formula for success.
Another big factor here is that the Giants have home field advantage. It would be very difficult to
see the Cardinals winning this series with an inferior pitching staff and having to travel to a hostile
environment more times than not.
