Atlanta Braves turn their focus to the NL East title when they continue a three-game set with the Miami Marlins this evening .
Right-hander Josh Johnson has lost each of his last two starts, though he hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in an outing this month. He also faced the Braves in his last start. The right-hander is 1-2 with a 3.60 ERA in his last 3 starts
Lefthander Paul Maholm turned in a solid effort despite not factoring into the decision his last time against the Marlins. The lefty pitched 6 2/3 innings, scattered four hits and gave up two runs -- the second of which crossed the plate after he left the game. The lefthander is 1-1 with a 4.41ERA in his last 3 starts
The Marlins have been the biggest disappointment of the season, but they’re still playing to win, and to prove that they can be a threat next season. Josh Johnson is a solid starter, but he doesn’t perform nearly as well on the road. Luckily for him and the rest of the Marlins, Maholm has been very hittable lately.
Atlanta has won 12 of the 16 meetings versus the Marlins this season, going 5-2 at home.
Prediction: Atlanta Braves -145
